Company Profile
NKS or NAYON KONTROL SYSTEMS is a technology-based company established to provide solutions for SCADA and Automation systems primarily for electric utilities in the Philippines. The company is geared towards system integration and engineered automation solution packages not only for local electric utilities, but as well as instrumentation, control and automation requirements for oil, gas, water, railway systems and Building Management Systems.
The company's expertise and track record emanates from our broad experience in the installation and commissioning of GE-Harris D20 RTUs (Remote Terminal Unit) of different Independent Power Producers (IPP) and from years working with the different systems of the National Power Corporation, now National Grid Corporation of the Philippines. NKS engineers are backed with extensive hardware, firmware and software training from Harris DAP (Distribution Automation Products)office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, now known as GE Harris Energy Systems. Our engineers were also trained in HMI (Human-Machine Interface) using the Realflex system and other industry tested automation applications.
NKS designs, recommends and implements a system that is best suited and will meet the requirements of customers for different fields of control systems. Being close to GE-Harris does not suggest exclusivity to GE-Harris products. Part of our strategic objective is to provide customers a means of acquiring an automation system that has the flexibility and versatility to adapt to the changing technology in the coming next century. A platform for systematic phase migration from conventional or closed systems to a distributed, industry standard and an open system, will provide customers the flexibility and expansion potential it needs.
Customers benefit more from projects of NKS. As a local technology company, the total cost of a certain project is very competitive if not lower because of the use of local expertise highly skilled manpower and that miscellaneous cost such as factory assembly and engineering and supplier-based technical support are transferred to local counterparts. But the main advantage lies on the fact that we are a local company with locally available and highly technical people in the field of automation, we can provide complete technical support personally before, during and after project implementation. After sales service and maintenance is at more effective rate because of the short response time on an immediate noticed instead of being supported "remotely" by the suppliers.
Market trend shows there will be a dramatic increase in the number of SCADA and automation system requirements over the next 5 years. This is brought about not by the awareness of the benefits of SCADA and automation, but because of market competition. A company that can produce and deliver quality, reliable goods and services in a short time will be ahead in any tight business environment.
We foresee opportunities in the market not in the supply of RTU only but also in mini-SCADA and medium-SCADA segment. This include the split up of National Power Corporation into several companies with the approval of new energy law, PNOC, and the more than 100 electric cooperatives of National Electrification Administration (NEA) that are situated all over the Philippines, as well as other utilities requiring leading-edge integrated SCADA and engineered Automation solution.
NKS is the first to implement real Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition in the distribution system of electric cooperatives. Now more than ever, the local market is ready to be introduced to the latest control and automation technology. Nayon Kontrol Systems is certain to play a major role in this evolution of SCADA and automation Systems technology in the Philippines.
With the aim of improving our company's quality management standards, NKS is planning to start the process of obtaining an ISO 9000 certification immediately after converting NKS into a corporation (NKS, Inc.) by the end of the year.
Moreover, we are constantly consulted by large contractors (ABB, Siemens, Alsthom, etc.) to provide engineered SCADA and Substation automation solution for their respective clients.
